Weaving on hand made looms: Workshop sessions
10 Week and additional Loom Project
For those of you wanting to learn how to make your own very simple loom structures, you have come to the right site. And to get you started we will make our own looms, whether it be for use at home or travelling, you can work on those swatches while you travel!...And wait I didn't tell you that we will also be dying our own wool too, and with natural plants and flowers woohoo!
Thursday Morning:
We will make hand looms out of every day objects, and build a working loom as part of a bigger project. The morning session will include an introduction of how looms work, what they are used for, and how we can integrate creative processes into the woven piece and or garment! The weaving project will have an element of theory, for the majority of the work it will be practical and hands on!
Thursday Afternoon:
Depending on the Manchester weather we will be taking trips to my allotment, to source the colours that we need for hand dying woven fabric and spun wool. I have allocated a space in my allotment dedicated to the production of natural dyes found in plants like; Woad, Madder, Marigold and Onion skins etc.
